Today, LG Professionals WA along with the WA Local Government Association have signed a Partnership Agreement with the State Government which lays down a simple framework for consultation and engagement between the State Government and the local government sector.
The partnership agreement recognises the importance of the State and local government sectors working together to improve communication between both spheres of government.
LG Professionals WA have advocated for a Partnership Agreement to be established to improve the communication and engagement between the local government sector and the State Government.
The Premier of Western Australia, Hon Mark McGowan MLA, and Minister for Local Government, Hon David Templeman MLA, signed the agreement on behalf of the State.
The Government of Western Australia, Western Australian Local Government Association and Local Government Professionals Australia WA are partners to the agreement, which promotes transparency and accountability and developing collaborative partnerships which contribute to better services and outcomes for communities.
Under the agreement, a State and Local Government Partnership Group has been formed which will meet annually to discuss matters of importance to both sectors.
