Please see attached a media release from LG Professionals WA, refuting assertions made on Perth and Regional radio by the CCC Commissioner, and defending the integrity of our members and the sector. Your Association has also been active countering these assertions on metropolitan and regional radio during the week.
While the Report on Serious Matters of Misconduct in the Shire of Exmouth makes for sobering reading, and the findings must be taken seriously,
to infer such issues are widespread in the local government sector is unfair and untrue.
The Minister for Local Government is convening a meeting with LG Professionals WA, WALGA, DLGC and the Commissioners of the CCC and the PSC, next week, to discuss these issues being raised.
LG Professionals WA will work with WALGA to represent the interests of our members and the sector and will keep Members updated on any initiatives arising from the meeting.
