Age Friendly Communities Professional Development Day

The LG Professionals WA Age Friendly Communities Network is pleased to announce the next metro Age Friendly Communities Professional Development Day.

Local government officers who attend this forum will learn and understand how Injury Matters (formerly Injury Control Council WA) can expand your thinking and research about injury in your communities, with particular reference to older residents. Local government authorities who register for this forum will receive their specific injury data plus the opportunity to understand its significance and how to use this with our age friendly planning. Research using credible data is critical to helping us see the whole picture when undertaking age friendly communities planning.
Delegates will also learn about the compassionate community approach from Palliative Care WA. This approach recognises that care for one another at times of crisis and loss is not simply a task solely for health and social services but is everyone’s responsibility. This approach not only applies to palliative care, but also ageing and all those living with a disability or a life‑limiting condition. Palliative Care WA recognises that the compassionate communities approach complements the work that many local governments are doing towards the development of age friendly communities. A Compassionate Communities Network has been established in WA. This provides an opportunity to understand what this can mean for our local communities.

See the Program for more details.
