Current level of employment
The project has researched the current level of employment of people with disability by West Australian local governments and the perceptions by local government staff about the benefits and challenges of employing people with disability. Outcomes of the People with Disability in Local Government: Participation and Perceptions project are outlined in the report. See links at right.
Workplace self-assessment
A free digital tool has been developed for local governments to self-assess the suitability of their workplace for staff with disability. The tool will help local governments identify areas they can strengthen, such as physical access, effective management practices and the organisation’s inclusive culture.
To access the digital tool, please read the ‘Workplace self-assessment – digital tool user guide’. Alternatively, download the workplace self-assessment checklist. Please note the checklist does not have the reporting functionality and capability of the digital tool.
Outcome 7 Guide
A guide to Outcome 7 has been developed in response to the People with Disability in Local Government: Participation and Perceptions report, as cited above. The guide can be used by any public authority that is required to address Outcome 7 in their DAIP.
