Local Government Advisory Board - Call for Nominations

The Minister for Local Government is seeking a panel of nominees from LG Professionals WA for membership on the Local Government Advisory Board.

The Local Government Act requires that the Advisory Board consists of 5 members appointed by the Governor of Western Australia of whom one person is to be a person having experience as the Chief Executive Officer of a local government appointed from a list submitted to the Minister by Local Government Professionals Australia (WA).

Our current representation is scheduled to expire in August of this year. Consequentially we are seeking nominations for one Member and one Deputy Member of the Local Government Advisory Board from suitably qualified LG Professionals WA members with CEO experience to form the panel of six names which will be submitted to the Minister. (Vacancies are for 3-year terms and all nominations will be considered for both vacancies unless otherwise specified). 

Nominations should reflect the diversity of the sector through attributes such as gender, nationality, cultural background, abilities and disabilities, regions, education, and age, whilst nominees should not be members of two or more State Government Boards or committees.

The following information is provided as a general outline of the requirements for the role:

Meetings: Generally monthly with further meetings as required including visits to Local Governments and public hearings (after hours).

Venue & Duration: Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries Perth office for approximately 1 - 2 hours.

Travelling allowance: Travel expenses are reimbursed in accordance with Government policy.
